¿En qué etapa conviene empezar a medir para justificar el retorno?
El cultivo es un proceso de 6–7 años y la mejora solo alcanza lo que mides. Más aún: la optimización de cosecha que buscas se calcula a partir de los años previos — la tasa de crecimiento es una pendiente. Saltarte años no te da descuento: pierdes la cereza. Y con suscripción anual fija, medir todo el ciclo cuesta lo mismo que medir un tramo.
¿No basta con medir en la cosecha?
El Brix al final es un indicador rezagado: para entonces el rendimiento y la calidad ya están fijados. No puedes "inspeccionar" la calidad dentro de la planta. Los indicadores que sí puedes accionar (merma, estrés, enfermedad) están en los años 1–5. W. Edwards Deming, *Out of the Crisis*
No quiero medir ciertos lotes/ciclos — ¿hay descuento?
En tu destilería no medirías solo el embotellado e ignorarías la destilación. Saltarte lotes deja huecos permanentes y deja sin gestionar tu activo; la cobertura completa ya está incluida.
Mis cuadrillas ya cuentan las plantas.

At what stage should I start measuring to justify payback?
Cultivation is a 6–7 year process, and improvement only reaches what you measure. More: the harvest optimization you want is computed from the prior years — growth rate is a slope. Skipping years isn't a discount; you forfeit the cherry. And under a flat annual subscription, measuring the whole cycle costs the same as a stretch.
Isn't measuring at harvest enough?
Brix at harvest is a lagging indicator — by then yield and quality are already set. You can't "inspect" quality into the plant. The indicators you can act on (stand loss, stress, disease) live in years 1–5. W. Edwards Deming, *Out of the Crisis*
I don't want to measure certain lotes/cycles — is there a discount?
In your distillery you wouldn't measure only the bottling line and ignore distillation. Skipping lotes leaves permanent gaps and leaves your asset unmanaged; complete coverage is already included.
My crews already count the plants.

Do I have to change how I work?
